Day-of-the-Dead mini magnets.

Due to a recent accident, my work has been slowed down a bit, but not stopped.  Today I was able to finish a few more Day-of-the-Dead Mini Magnets - with the magnets yet to be attached.

My Version of 'Sugar Skulls'...

The company that I buy my unfinished wood from carries these (see photo), what they call 'ladybugs'. They are very small at just over ¾ of an inch, and flat on the other side. I saw some online that were made into cute ladybugs. Wanting to see what I could do with them, I bought a small order of ten.

My version of 'Sugar Skulls' or Day-of-the-Dead,

these will become refrigerator magnets,
Not sure on the name, but perhaps simply 'Day of the Dead Mini Magnets'. 

You may wonder how I paint details on something so small.

I have Super Power Vision.

Not really.

I have an awesome lighted magnifying glass
which is especially useful for painting details.

Though not from the same era, Charlie doesn't mind the new bathing suit style.

On a side note, I am looking for accessories for my collectibles, such as a 'bowlers hat' for Charlie.

Wedding Cake Toppers - it's all in the details.

Details on wedding cake toppers are as unique and endless as your imagination.  From simple and stylish to funky or punky - it's all up to what you want. Vampire bride and groom? I can do that.  Caricatures of you and your loved one(s) are also an option. Need ideas? Google Images are a great place to start.

The first couple in this post is a sample of a more traditional wedding cake topper. The style of everything from hair to clothes can be modified to make it as unique as you wish. This couple can be replicated with changes made to any detail to suit your taste. Anything you see on my blog can be replicated, but because each collectible is hand made, each one is always uniquely one-of-a-kind.

The Evolution of my Bumblebees & Ladybugs...

Two years ago, I made a small batch of bumblebees and ladybugs. Last week, in between projects, I made some new ones. My style has definitely evolved, as show in these pics. The original bumblebees have wings, with a few that had 'stems' added, to be put into houseplants. These bumblebees have yet to have their wings put on. These little critters are 1¼" tall.

and a few bald ones...

The first of many Celebrity/Musician collectibles - Elvis!

I researched, studied, and sketched numerous 'caricatures' of Elvis, to get his many expressions - his eyes and lips being the most prominent in his facial features, and then his hair and clothing style. These collectible stand 2¾" tall. 

Because of creation time,  meticulous details, and uniqueness, these Elvis collectibles will sell for $45 each (plus shipping).

Elvis had very dreamy, expressive eyes.

New Kokeshi-Style Collectibles

Out of a desire for a new body style, I searched extensively online for a company that may offer such - in the way of an unfinished wood product. None found (except finished products), I went through my supplies and had an "Ah Ha!" moment, and created my own. These 'newbies' are a 'Kokeshi-Style' body type. They stand 2¾" tall with a 1¼" diameter head. They are made of two parts - body and head, which are securely hot-glued and cannot be removed or come apart - unless you are the Hulk, in which case, you can just crush them in the palm of your hand. (lol) They will make great wedding cake toppers, as well as a host of other unique collectibles I have planned. 

As with all of my collectibles, each one is unique / one-of-a-kind.
